Our algae species

Six species, three industries

Each species brings its own composition and application — from omega-3 for aquaculture to antioxidants for supplements.

Nannochloropsis Gaditana

A marine microalga known for its high content of the omega-3 fatty acid EPA.

  • Rich, natural source of EPA (omega-3)
  • Widely used in aquaculture, among other things to enrich live feed (rotifers) for larvae
  • Interesting as a plant-based alternative to fish oil in nutraceuticals

Spirulina (Arthrospira Platensis)

The best-known food algae in the world, with an exceptionally high protein content.

  • Up to 60–70% protein — one of the most protein-rich natural sources there are
  • Rich in phycocyanin, iron and vitamins
  • Widely applicable: food supplements, functional foods and a natural blue colorant

Isochrysis Galbana

A marine microalga with a high content of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA.

  • Important DHA source, essential for cell development
  • Widely used cultivation feed in aquaculture (among others, shellfish and shrimp larvae)
  • Supports healthy growth in hatcheries worldwide

Tetraselmis Chuii

A green marine microalga, approved in the EU as a novel food since 2014 and as a food supplement since 2017.

  • High content of superoxide dismutase (SOD), a powerful antioxidant enzyme produced by the body itself
  • Legally approved for human consumption in the EU — an important advantage over many other algae species
  • Traditionally used as cultivation feed in aquaculture (shellfish and molluscs)

Aphanizomenon Flos-Aquae

A blue-green algae (cyanobacterium), traditionally wild-harvested from lakes, now also grown under controlled conditions.

  • Very high in protein (60–70%), with natural phycocyanin and phenylethylamine (PEA)
  • Our controlled cultivation in closed systems avoids the quality and contamination risks of wild-harvested AFA
  • Popular in the food supplements market

Haematococcus Pluvialis

A freshwater microalga and the richest natural source of astaxanthin.

  • Astaxanthin is one of the strongest natural antioxidants known
  • Widely used in food supplements, cosmetics and fish feed (pigmentation in salmon)
  • A natural alternative to synthetic antioxidants and colorants

The end product

After cultivation, harvesting and drying, we supply our algae as fresh concentrate, freeze-dried powder or freeze-dried cake — and, if desired, further processed to the customer's specification, for example tableted or encapsulated.
