Who we are
Algae by Nature was founded by brothers Thomas and Robert Prins. Having grown up in greenhouse horticulture, they are the third generation of growers in their family — a background that forms the basis for the precision and dedication with which they now grow algae.
That combination of generations of horticultural knowledge and specialised algae cultivation makes Algae by Nature a reliable B2B partner: we know what it takes to grow a living product year-round, at scale.

What we do
We produce various species of algae used across a range of industries: from aquaculture, where our algae contribute to healthy fish farming, to the food supplements and food industries, where algae play an increasingly important role — for example as a natural protein source within the protein transition, and as a source of fatty acids, natural colorants and strong antioxidants.
We grow our algae in closed photobioreactors, housed in greenhouses in the Netherlands. That gives us full control over growing conditions, and an energy-efficient, scalable way of producing.
